Box Score BREVARD, N.C. – The Warren Wilson women's lacrosse team battled against Brevard College on Tuesday afternoon but ultimately fell short, 16-6, in a competitive non-conference matchup at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
Despite an early offensive push from the Tornados, the Owls found their rhythm in the second quarter, with Sydney Weber leading the charge. Weber recorded a hat trick, netting three goals, while Callie Aerni added two goals and two assists. Taylor Smith also contributed a goal for Warren Wilson.
Brevard set the tone early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter before the Owls responded in the second. Warren Wilson found momentum with goals from Smith and Weber, narrowing the gap. However, Brevard's offense, led by Xan Hill's seven-goal performance and Emily Denaga's five-goal contribution, proved too much to overcome.
Apollo Grieves stood strong in goal for Warren Wilson, making 10 saves against a relentless Brevard attack. The Owls were aggressive on draw controls, winning 14 to Brevard's 13, but struggled with turnovers, committing 30 throughout the game.
Warren Wilson now looks ahead to their next matchup as they aim to bounce back from the road loss. The Owls will return to action on April 2nd against Greensboro College, eager to build on the positive moments from today's contest.
