Student-Athlete Unity Pledge

I am an NCAA student-athlete and I pledge to be a Champion of Unity on my team, on my campus, and in my community

I pledge to stand against all forces of division and separation.

I pledge to embrace differences and strive for inclusion and collaboration.

I pledge to stand against racism, hate, and discrimination.

I pledge to strive for love, care, and forgiveness.

I pledge to stand against silence, deceit, and obscurity.

I pledge to strive for dialogue, truth, and understanding.

I pledge to stand against fear and doubt.

I pledge to strive for trust and belief in one another.

I pledge to stand against complacency and stagnancy.

I pledge to strive for change and growth.

I commit to supporting my fellow student-athletes in all circumstances that impact them.

I commit to both choosing unity personally and encouraging it for all.

I pledge these things because we are stronger together.

Disability Guide

The disability guide is a three-part resource for members to use in supporting student-athletes with disabilities. It includes information on what it means for someone to have a disability, the importance and impact of using inclusive language, and guidance on how to ensure student-athletes with disabilities have access and reasonable accommodations to excel academically, athletically and in all aspects of their collegiate experience.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Review Framework

The DEI Review Framework offers a sample guide that athletics departments can use to conduct a collaborative and meaningful DEI review. The framework was built to allow for a broad-based campus team to ask questions and consider information during its DEI review. Suggested action items are offered if a school self-identifies shortfalls and/or areas where it is striving to continue progress.

Inclusive Language Guide

The inclusive language guide offers recommendations for members in implementing messaging that fosters diverse, inclusive and equitable environments. Aiming to make all feel welcomed and valued, inclusive language respects how we discuss those with differing abilities, nationalities, genders, races/ethnicities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic statuses and other identities.

The 10-page, easy-to-read document introduces and explains inclusive language and why it's important. It also presents foundational considerations such as how it's always best to ask individuals or groups how they would like to be referred to or described instead of making assumptions. The resource shares information on citizenship/nationality, gender, LGBTQ+, disability, race/ethnicity, religion and spirituality, and socioeconomic status topics.

International Student-Athlete Guide

The NCAA’s first international student-athlete guide is a two-part resource created to assist in enhancing inclusion and a sense of belonging for international student-athletes. It aims to generate awareness and understanding of the unique challenges international student-athletes face and provide guidance and tools to support the more than 21,000 international student-athletes who currently compete in Divisions I, II and III.

State of Women in College Sports

The NCAA's Title IX at 50 report, "The State of Women in College Sports," illustrates the participation gains for female student-athletes, especially for racially and ethnically diverse populations. But the milestone report also outlines the challenges that remain for women in leadership positions and the allocation of resources at member campuses.
