DANVILLE, VA - The Owls put up a strong fight but ultimately fell to the Averett University Cougars in an 8-21 match up. Despite the final score, the team showcased determination on both ends of the field.
On offense, Sydney Weber and Callie Aerni led the charge, creating key opportunities to push the ball forward. A bright moment for the Owls came when Taylor Smith found the back of the net, securing her first goal of the season.
Defensively, the trio of Apollo Grieves, Lulu Fish, and Lorena Salazar stood tall, making it difficult for the Cougars to break through. Their efforts in the defensive zone kept the game competitive, and Lorena was awarded the game ball for her quick play recognition, strong communication, and all-around stellar performance.
The Owls will look to bounce back in their next match up on Wednesday, March 12, at 2 p.m., when they travel to face North Carolina Wesleyan University.
