Warren Wilson Owls Soar to Victory Over Greensboro on Senior Night

SWANNANOA, NC – The Warren Wilson College Owls delivered a dominant performance on their home turf, defeating the Greensboro Pride by a final score of 19-11. The Owls' offense proved too much for Greensboro to handle, fueled by an incredible nine goals from Sydney Weber. 

Warren Wilson established an early lead, scoring six goals in the first quarter alone, while holding Greensboro to just two. Weber set the tone early, scoring the first goal of the game. The Owls continued their offensive onslaught throughout the game, maintaining a comfortable lead.

Sydney Weber's incredible nine-goal performance led all scorers, showcasing her offensive prowess. Sophia Spangler tied her previous game-high of five goals, while Callie Aerni added four, and Taylor Smith added one.  Warren Wilson demonstrated a balanced attack with assists from multiple players, including Weber (2), Aerni (2), and Taylor Smith (2). 

While Greensboro's offense showed flashes of brilliance, led by Brynly ManWaring's five goals, they ultimately couldn't keep pace with the Owls. 

The Owls' aggressive offense was reflected in their shooting statistics, with 30 total shots compared to Greensboro's 32. Warren Wilson was also more accurate, putting 22 shots on goal to Greensboro's 14. 

Both teams battled fiercely in the draw circle, ending in a tie with 15 draw controls each. However, Warren Wilson capitalized on their possessions more effectively. 

Despite committing more turnovers (29) than Greensboro (21), Warren Wilson's defense held strong, with Apollo Grieves making 6 saves.  

Overall, it was a commanding victory for the Warren Wilson Owls, highlighting their offensive firepower and ability to capitalize on key opportunities.
