ROCKY MOUNT, NC – Warren Wilson College showcased a powerful offensive performance on Wednesday afternoon, securing a 16-7 victory over NC Wesleyan at Stallings Field.
Sydney Weber led the Owls (4-4) with an impressive eight-goal performance, helping Warren Wilson take control early and maintain a steady lead throughout the match. Callie Aerni added three goals, while Vera Dorsey (2), Sophia Spangler (1), Taylor Smith (1), and Elena Wheeler (1) also found the back of the net.
The Owls wasted no time setting the tone, scoring five unanswered goals in the first quarter. Weber, Aerni, and Smith powered the offense, with Aerni's goal at the 10:22 mark kicking off the scoring spree.
NC Wesleyan (0-4) found some rhythm in the second quarter, with Maxima Iglesias netting three goals and providing two assists. However, Warren Wilson's balanced attack and aggressive play ensured the Bishops never closed the gap. The Owls dominated in draw controls (13-4) and out shot their opponent 43-16, consistently pressuring NC Wesleyan's defense.
Goalkeeper Apollo Grieves recorded six saves to anchor the Owls' defense. Meanwhile, Jillian Stine worked tirelessly in goal for NC Wesleyan, tallying 13 saves despite facing a relentless offensive onslaught from Warren Wilson.
