Saadiq Johnson Has Breakout Game; #15 Owls Sweep Tigers

Box Score

Swannanoa, N.C. - The #15 Warren Wilson Owls came into Tuesday night's game riding a two game winning streak, looking to sweep their season series with the Hiwassee Tigers for the first time in recent history. The Owls came out of the gates clicking, but the Tigers refused to be denied. A late run at the end of the half by the Tigers put the Owls down 44-41 at the half.

The Owls would respond and tie the game early in the second half. Once the Owls took the lead it was smooth sailing. As the buzzer sounded the Owls claimed a 98-88 victory and its third consecutive win in 4 days.

The Owls saw four players in double digits, led by junior guard Saadiq Johnson, who exploded for 26 points on 8-3 pointers. Jaquann Lockhart, Brent Davis and Justin Storr followed Johnson with 18, 17, and 15, respectively.

"We are starting to hit our stride, and our guys are having more fun than we have seen them have all year. Everything is starting to fall into place for us and it's fun. It's much more fun to go into the locker room after the game and celebrate a win than do the opposite," stated head coach Anthony Barringer.

The Owls are back in action Friday as they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on conference foe Clinton College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
