Warren Wilson escapes Barber-Scotia 82-81 on a game-winning shot by Ty Johnson.
The Owls came to Concord seeking to avenge a home loss to the Sabers earlier in the year and started strong with an 11-4 lead in the opening five minutes. Baber-Scotia answered back to take the lead, however and the game was back and forth throughout.
In the second half several tight calls led to a lot of free throws for both teams. The Owls led by five in the closing minutes but Barber-Scotia was able to cut the deficit to three with under 20 seconds to go. Then with 18 seconds left the Owls turned the ball over which led to a three-point shot by the Sabers to tie the game at 72-72. The Owls were unable to get a good look at the basket with 8.8 seconds and the game went into overtime.
In OT Barber-Scotia took an 81-80 lead with 16 seconds. Ty Johnson made a tough drive to the basket and hit a turn-around pull up jumper with 2.8 seconds to put the Owls ahead for good.
Warren Wilson improves to 15-10 on the season. The Owls are off until Monday when they host Piedmont International at 7:00 pm.
