Sabers use hot shooting night to take care of the Owls 89-80.
Both teams started hot as the Owls took an early 6-4 lead and led again 9-6 at the 17:31 mark in the first half. With the game tied at 9-9, the Sabers went on a 20-10 run to go up double figures at 29-19 with 7:54 to go in the first half. Barber-Scotia would lead by as many as 19 points near the end of the first half and take a 45-30 lead into the locker room.
In the second half the Owls would rally, using a 11-4 run to cut the Sabers lead to 56-50 with 13:31 left to go in the game. But Barber-Scotia would once again answer and go up by double figures, leading 72-59 with just 4:47 to go in the game. The Owls would use another 19-9 run to cut the lead to just three with 55 seconds left in the game. But the Sabers hit key free throws down the stretch and escaped with a nine point win.
The Owls defense was sluggish, allowing the Sabers to shoot 68% in the first half and 54% for the game.
