SWANNANOA, NC - Warren Wilson College has announced the appointment of Isaac LaFunor as the new head coach of the Owls men's volleyball program.
Lafunor, a familiar face in DeVries Gymnasium, joined Warren Wilson earlier this year as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's volleyball teams under head coach Kristy Kamer. Alongside Kamer and assistant coach Bonnie Dotson, LaFunor played an important role in player development, practice planning, and match preparation throughout the 2025 women's volleyball season.
A native of Asheville, North Carolina, LaFunor is a graduate of Lees-McRae College, where he competed in 75 matches as a libero and was a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree. Before his collegiate career, he trained with Xcel Volleyball Performance and is an alumnus of Asheville Christian Academy.
Beyond his collegiate playing experience, LaFunor has competed nationally in AVP beach volleyball tournaments and served as Revolution Volleyball Camp Director, where he helped mentor young athletes and promote the sport across Western North Carolina.
"I'm honored to continue building the men's program here at Warren Wilson," said LaFunor. "This community values growth, learning, and teamwork—everything that volleyball teaches so well. I'm excited to lead a group of athletes who share that same energy and commitment."
Director of Athletics Robin Martin-Davis shared her enthusiasm for the hire. "Isaac has already made a tremendous impact within our volleyball programs. His knowledge of the game, leadership style, and dedication to our student-athletes make him an outstanding fit to guide the men's team forward."
LaFunor will begin his role immediately as the Owls prepare for their upcoming 2026 season.
