Coach Kamer will start her year at Warren Wilson this fall. In the Owl's very first season ever the Owls went 2-21. The Owls were represented by KJ Helinsky who made the C2C All Second Team. They are looking forward to building the program this fall. Before coming to Warren Wilson, Kamer was the head coach at Owen High School for the last two years. While at Owen, Kamer guided the team to its first appearance in the second round of the playoffs in the last 10 years and had three players on all-conference teams.
Before Owen, Kamer spent several seasons at Montreat College, leading the Cavaliers to more than 110 victories over her nine years at the helm of the program. Coach Kamer had five seasons of double-digit wins in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action and brought the Cavs to the AAC Tournament in seven of those seasons, including the AAC Tournament Championship match in 2012.
Numerous accolades accompanied Kamer’s teams throughout her time at Montreat as nine athletes earned all-conference honors, two collected all-f21reshman team awards and a pair of players were named AVCA All-Region. Kamer also coached an AAC Player of the Year, AAC Libero of the Year, an AVCA Regional Libero of the Year, and an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. Academically, over 30 players were named to AAC All-Academic teams, AVCA All-Academic teams and NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes. The Cavaliers qualified as an AVCA All-Academic Team eight straight seasons during her tenure.
Before Montreat, Kamer served as the head volleyball coach at Shawnee State University. She obtained a record of 135-60, leading her team to the 2008 American Mideast Conference (AMC) Tournament Championship, the first such title in the school’s history. SSU would also advance to the Opening Round of the NAIA Volleyball Championships for the first time in school history.
In 2009, Kamer was named the AMC Coach of the Year and NAIA Northeast Region Coach of the Year. She was also voted Coach of the Year for the Defiance College alumni Varsity D award. The following season, SSU changed conferences, leaving the AMC for the Mid-South Conference. Kamer led the Bears to the East Division regular-season title while beating Georgetown College to punch their ticket to the Opening Round of the NAIA Tournament. SSU went on to defeat IU-East and make the trip to the final site of the NAIA Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.
Kamer’s athletes at SSU amassed four All-American seasons, a conference player of the year award, several all-conference and all-region selections, NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athletes, and three NAIA Daktronics Scholar Teams in addition to their parts in a trio of NAIA National Tournament appearances, and two regular-season and conference tournament championships.
