CARY, N.C. - The Owls concluded the 2023-23 campaign on a high note as 14 of 16 athletes achieved either lifetime or collegiate best times. As the team continues to build success, the future of the program continues to brighten.
On Day 1, the squad combined to drop over 40 seconds tallying 18 lifetime bests and 2 season bests. The success continued on Days Two and Three and despite swimming less events, the team managed to tally 16.55 and 5.24 seconds of lifetime best improvements, respectively.
"This was, without a doubt, the most fun I've ever had at a championship meet. I couldn't be more proud of this group of amazing people," said head coach Rebecca Westfall. "The energy we carried onto pool deck each day was electric and their support from one another was absolutely unwavering.That energy definitely showed in our performances as everyone walked away with something to be proud of. "

Sophomore Rylan Harvey was the stand out for both teams tallying lifetime bests in all three of his individual events.

Sophomores Ella Baker and Ryan Sawyer and Junior Jacob Allen were also three-for-three in lifetime bests.

Junior Lucy Crayton dropped the most total time with 27.98 seconds of season best drops.

Sophomore Dylan Edwards had the largest time drop per duration with over three seconds improvement in her 50 freestyle relay split.

Freshman Trace Edwards finally dipped under the 30 second barrier with an effort of 29.84 despite returning to the team after medical issues.
The ISSC Championships concludes this season for the team. The 2023-24 season will kick off in September.
