Owls Cross-Country First to Compete in C2C Conference Championships

Warren Wilson College Athletic Director Robin Martin-Davis and Head Cross-Country Coach, Bruce Hills, made history for Owls athletics by being the first athletic teams at Warren Wilson to compete in Coast-2-Coast athletic conference post-season competition by attending the conference championship event at WinterPlace Park in Salisbury, MD.  A full squad of student-athletes raced against the defending nationally-ranked UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, who would eventually take both titles.

Senior Miriam Kadens led the charge for the Owl's women's team with a personal record time of 24:45, while Tevor Nail lowered his PR to 27:09 in the 8k course for men's cross-country.  Several other Owl competitors etched their times in their personal record books by improving significantly due to having the opportunity to race against the best cross-country student-athletes within the C2C conference.

Warren Wilson College was recently welcomed in as the 8th core member of the C2C in 2022, which has inspired the recent addition of several athletic teams for the Owls.  Competing in the C2C cross-country conference championship events have aligned with a recent step towards competitive development through the addition of men's and women's track & field.  Both cross-country and track & field programs will feature opportunities to maximize resources in order to create a more seamless and logical approach to pursuing excellence in long-distance running.  With this deliberate restructuring, Warren Wilson Athletics will continue to pursue robust efforts to compete at future C2C conference events as both programs will assist in achieving full NCAA Division III member classification.
