Swannonoa, N.C. - The Warren Wilson women's soccer team lost a close match between Patrick Henry Community College today by an overtime goal from the Patriots.

The Warren Wilson women's soccer team took no time to put a stamp on the match with high energy and pressing in the first fifteen minutes. A few players would have opportunities to put the Owls in the lead but just missed close of the goal. The Patriots would also have their own opportunities to get on the scoreboard but freshman goalkeeper Madison Pacheco was solid in net. The Owls went into halftime at 0-0.

After defensively organizing and making a few adjustments the Owls went into the second half believing they could win the game. The game opened up with a lot of back and forth attacking however at the end of regulation the game was still tied 0-0. Overtime was next with two ten minute periods and golden goal. Both teams had great looks on goal but it would be the Patriots who would earn the win, scoring in the 107th minute mark by Kristen Downey.

The Owls were out-shot by the Patriots 18-10. Pacheco tallied 9 saves on the match. The Owls will have a quick turn around as they take on Hiwassee College Tuesday, September 20 at 2:30pm. This is a doubleheader match with the men's team playing after at 4:30pm against Hiwassee. Come out and show your support for the Owls!
