Asheville, NC - The Lady Fighting Owls never could make it over the hump today at home against Hollins University
The loss brings the Fighting Owls to a 1-2 overall record and Hollins to a 1-1 overall record.
Hollins found the net early during the 3:00 minute mark as Dani Franklin found Becca Logan for the first goal. Logan then put another one away at the 12:00 minute mark with an assist from Franklin once again.
The Owls would begin to push late in the first half with Bianca Canizio making a great run and drawing a free kick thirty yards from goal. Marisa Romeo stepped up to the ball and drilled it in the back of the net giving life to the Owls as they looked to capitalize on this momentum. The first half ended with a score of 2-1.
In the second half Hollins' Becca Logan would get the hat trick on an assist from Maran O'Neill at the 50:45 minute mark giving Hollins a 3-1 lead.
The Fighting Owls kept battling. Bianca Canizio was everywhere working hard to spur the team on when at the 65:55 minute mark Canizio found the back of the net with some shifty footwork and a powerful shot on goal. This brought the score to 3-2.
Warren Wilson had many chances one after the other but it would be Hollins that would score one last time in the 76th minute as Ashton Holliday received a cross from Dani Franklin and knocked in the final goal.
During the remaining time the Owls continued to press and work hard. However, Hollins did not allow the Owls to capitalize on the effort ending the match 4-2 favoring Hollins.
