CARY, N.C. – Goalkeeper Liv Winiecki recorded a three-save shutout as the Warren Wilson College women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a >0-0 draw against William Peace University on Wednesday at WakeMed Soccer Park.
The Owls (0-0-1) withstood increased pressure from the Pacers in the second half while creating a pair of opportunities of their own. William Peace finished with a 6-3 advantage in shots, including a 3-2 edge in shots on goal, but Winiecki and the Warren Wilson defense kept the Pacers off the scoreboard for all 90 minutes.
Warren Wilson produced the first half's best scoring chance in the 37th minute. Kenzy Angle put an attempt on frame toward the bottom right corner, but William Peace goalkeeper Courtney Dugan made the save to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.
The Owls threatened again early in the second half. After earning a corner kick in the 55th minute, Caro Alcala-Ruiz sent an attempt over the crossbar. She came even closer in the 69th minute, putting a shot on goal that Dugan stopped. Alcala-Ruiz accounted for two of Warren Wilson's three shots in the contest.
William Peace generated its strongest stretch shortly afterward. Winiecki stopped Elana Ruff's attempt in the 66th minute before Liv Kanalis hit the crossbar in the 71st. The Pacers followed with another shot less than a minute later, but the Owls weathered the pressure and preserved the shutout.
Winiecki played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with three saves. Angle and Alcala-Ruiz recorded Warren Wilson's two shots on goal. The Owls also earned four corner kicks while William Peace finished with six. Warren Wilson committed just three fouls compared to seven by the Pacers, and neither team received a card.
The draw gives Warren Wilson a 0-0-1 record to begin the 2026 campaign.
