Jorge Marin Named Head Coach of Warren Wilson Women's Triathlon

SWANNANOA, NC - Warren Wilson College Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Jorge Marin as the new Head Coach of the Women's Triathlon team, succeeding former head coach Valerie Cook.

Originally from Colombia, South America, Marin brings more than 21 years of triathlon experience as both an elite athlete and accomplished coach. He has competed at the highest level of the sport, having qualified for and completed the Ironman World Championships—a testament to his endurance, commitment, and deep understanding of the sport.

Marin holds a Bachelor's degree in Sports Science and began his coaching journey as an assistant with the triathlon team at Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín. He later went on to found his own triathlon team, where he has trained athletes from amateur newcomers to seasoned elites. Many of the athletes he has coached have gone on to compete at the Ironman World Championships and 70.3 World Championships, consistently performing on the international stage.

Marin takes over a dedicated and rapidly improving squad at Warren Wilson. The Women's Triathlon team has shown remarkable growth in recent seasons, and with Marin's leadership, the program is poised to take its performance to the next level.

"I'm honored to join Warren Wilson and build on the foundation Coach Cook established," said Marin. "This is a strong group of women with incredible potential, and I look forward to helping them continue their growth—in sport and in life."

Warren Wilson's commitment to NCAA Women's Triathlon continues to expand, and Marin's arrival marks an exciting new chapter for the program.
