Warren Wilson Falls to West Virginia Wesleyan on the Road

BUCKHANNON, WV – The Warren Wilson Owls women's basketball team faced a tough challenge on the road against West Virginia Wesleyan, ultimately falling 96-43 on Saturday afternoon at Rockefeller Center.

The Owls fought hard but struggled to contain the Bobcats' high-powered offense. West Virginia Wesleyan took control early, building an 18-6 lead in the first quarter and extending their advantage throughout the contest.

Ellie Martin led the Owls with 11 points, including a pair of three-pointers and a 5-for-6 performance at the free-throw line. Moosie Lewis added eight points, also knocking down two shots from beyond the arc. Zoey Gore provided a spark off the bench with nine points, while Weronika Swojak pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Bobcats displayed their depth with five players scoring in double figures, led by Emma Witt's 20-point performance. West Virginia Wesleyan capitalized on second-chance opportunities, out-rebounding Warren Wilson 40-28 and scoring 21 points off offensive rebounds.

Despite the loss, the Owls showed resilience, improving their shooting efficiency in the third quarter and converting 100% of their free throws in the fourth. Warren Wilson will look to regroup as they prepare for their next matchup. The Owls return to action next week as they take on Pfeiffer University at home on Monday night. Tipoff is set for 6:00 PM.
