SWANNANOA, N.C. — The Warren Wilson women's basketball team showed resilience in a hard-fought match up against Pfeiffer University on Saturday night but ultimately came up short, falling 62-55 at Devries Athletic Gymnasium.
After a slow start, the Owls surged in the second half, outscoring Pfeiffer 20-16 in the third quarter and matching the Falcons in the fourth. Moosie Lewis led Warren Wilson with a game-high 24 points, adding six steals and three rebounds. Ellie Martin contributed eight points and four rebounds, while Zoey Gore provided a spark off the bench with eight points and three boards.
Despite the Owls' strong second-half push, Pfeiffer controlled the early minutes, building a lead behind Alexis Bynum's 18 points and eight assists. The Falcons' ability to capitalize on turnovers proved crucial, as they converted 26 points off Warren Wilson's 36 giveaways.
Warren Wilson found its rhythm late, using defensive pressure to create fast-break opportunities. Lewis' relentless effort helped cut into Pfeiffer's lead, but the visitors held their composure in the closing moments to secure the win.
The Owls will look to bounce back in their next game as they continue their home stretch.
