SWANNANOA, N.C. – The Warren Wilson College women's basketball team showcased resilience and determination on their home court, overcoming a slow start to defeat Bob Jones University 66-54 on Tuesday night at DeVries Gymnasium.
The Owls found themselves trailing early, as Bob Jones took an 18-9 lead after the first quarter. However, a strong defensive effort and improved shooting saw Warren Wilson gradually take control of the game. The Owls outscored their opponents 15-10 in the second quarter, closing the gap to four points at halftime.
The third quarter proved to be the turning point for Warren Wilson. Led by Moosie Lewis, who finished with 21 points and four steals, the Owls erupted for 24 points while holding Bob Jones to just 14. Ellie Martin also played a crucial role, adding 12 points, six assists, and seven rebounds. Briah Clarke provided additional firepower with 12 points of her own, including two three-pointers.
Defensively, Warren Wilson dominated the glass, securing 44 total rebounds compared to Bob Jones' 43. The Owls controlled the paint and limited second-chance opportunities for the visitors.
The fourth quarter saw Warren Wilson maintain their momentum, sealing the victory with an 18-12 scoring advantage. Clutch free throws and perimeter shooting kept Bob Jones at bay as the Owls closed out the game in front of their home crowd.
Warren Wilson capitalized on their defensive pressure, forcing 25 turnovers and converting them into 24 points. The Owls also displayed depth, with their bench contributing 12 points to the winning effort.
