DANVILLE, VA. — The Warren Wilson College women's basketball team went toe-to-toe with Averett University on Wednesday night, coming up just short in a tightly contested road game at the Grant Center.
The Owls set the tone early, building a 20–15 lead after the first quarter and continuing to trade momentum through a back-and-forth first half. After Averett edged ahead at the break, Warren Wilson responded in the third quarter, reclaiming the lead behind strong defensive effort and transition play.
The fourth quarter featured multiple lead changes as both teams battled down the stretch. Warren Wilson held late advantages before Averett capitalized at the free-throw line in the closing moments to secure the final margin.
Briah Clarke led the Owls with 16 points on 8-of-16 shooting, adding six rebounds. Tatyana Lewis finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and six steals, while Ori Galloway contributed 11 points, four assists, and four steals. Kiera Littlejohn was dominant on the glass, pulling down a game-high 17 rebounds to go along with four points and six blocks.
Warren Wilson finished with 27 fast-break points and forced 21 turnovers, resulting in 18 points off those miscues. The Owls recorded 10 assists and six blocked shots in the effort.
