Warren Wilson Women's Basketball Outlasts William Peace

SWANNANOA, N.C. – The Warren Wilson College women's basketball team secured a thrilling 75-70 victory over William Peace University on Tuesday night at DeVries Gymnasium, fueled by a dominant fourth-quarter performance.

The Owls and the Pacers engaged in a back-and-forth contest featuring eight ties and six lead changes. Warren Wilson held a slim 14-13 advantage after the first quarter, but William Peace responded with a 19-14 second quarter, taking a four-point lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Owls found their rhythm, outscoring the Pacers 19-13 in the third quarter to reclaim the lead. Moosie Lewis led the charge with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four steals, while Weronika Swojak dominated the paint with a double-double of 15 points and 19 rebounds.

The fourth quarter saw Warren Wilson put the game away with a 28-point explosion. Ellie Martin contributed 13 points and four steals, and Candela Perez-Castellanos provided a crucial spark off the bench with 11 points. The Owls' defensive intensity was key, as they forced 31 turnovers and converted them into 34 points.

Warren Wilson also held a significant advantage on the boards, out-rebounding William Peace 45-40, with Swojak's 19 rebounds standing out as a game-high.

With this victory, the Owls will look to build momentum as they prepare for their next matchup against Bob Jones at home.
