Owls Show Improvement in Rematch Against Brevard College

SWANNANOA, NC - The Warren Wilson College women's basketball team demonstrated tremendous progress in their rematch against Brevard College on December 7 at Boshamer Gymnasium. While the Owls fell short with a final score of 83-56, the team displayed improved execution and resilience compared to their 81-33 loss in the first matchup earlier this season.

The game began with Warren Wilson coming out with energy, scoring 17 points in the first quarter, including a trio of three-pointers from Moosie Lewis and Ellie Martin. Despite Brevard's size advantage, the Owls battled hard on the boards, with Zoey Gore and Weronika Swojak combining for 16 rebounds. The first quarter ended with Brevard holding a slight lead, 22-17.

In the second quarter, the Tornados began to pull away, capitalizing on their depth and second-chance opportunities. However, Warren Wilson's defense made key stops, highlighted by Moosie Lewis's two blocks and a steal from Jenna Onderko, keeping the Owls within reach. At halftime, Brevard led 42-28.

The Owls continued to fight in the second half, with Hailey Ripley coming off the bench to knock down three three-pointers in the third and fourth quarters, finishing with 11 points. Warren Wilson also showed poise at the free-throw line, converting 15 of 20 attempts (75%), with Zoey Gore going 7-for-10.

Despite Brevard's ability to maintain their lead through balanced scoring, Warren Wilson outscored their opponent in second-chance points, 15-9, and showed significant improvement in offensive flow. Moosie Lewis led the charge offensively with 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Ellie Martin added 7 points and 5 rebounds.

Head Coach Robin Martin-Davis reflected on the game: "This was a much stronger showing for our team. The players executed better on offense, fought for every rebound, and stayed aggressive throughout the game. We're moving in the right direction, and I'm excited about what's ahead

The Owls will continue their season on December 10th against Ferrum College. Fans are encouraged to follow along and support the team as they build on their progress and aim for their first win of the season.
