FERRUM, VA - The Warren Wilson Owls faced off against Ferrum College on Tuesday evening at Swartz Gymnasium in Ferrum, Virginia. Despite a determined effort, the Owls were unable to overcome Ferrum's balanced attack, falling 68-33.
Sophomore Zoey Gore, led the Owls with 8 points, hitting six free throws and pulling down 6 rebounds in 31 minutes of action. Moosie Lewis added 7 points, connecting on one three-pointer and contributing 5 rebounds. Junior Mari McNeal provided a spark off the bench, scoring 6 points on 75% shooting while grabbing 4 boards.
The game started with a defensive battle as both teams struggled to find their rhythm. Ferrum took an early lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Owls 14-3. Warren Wilson regrouped in the second quarter, with Ellie Martin and Lewis making key plays to bring some momentum, but Ferrum's 24-point effort before halftime extended their lead.
In the second half, the Owls showed resilience. McNeal's efficiency in the paint and Jenna Onderko's three-point shooting brought energy to the team. However, Ferrum's Aisha Martin, who scored a game-high 29 points, proved difficult to contain.
"We fought hard and had some bright spots tonight," said head coach Robin Martin-Davis. "The team is growing, and we'll take these lessons into our next matchup."
The Owls (0-10) will look to rebound in their upcoming game against LaGrange College at the Towneplace Suites Classic on December 14th at 2PM.
