SWANNANOA, NC — The Warren Wilson College women's basketball team fought hard but ultimately fell to the Sewanee Tigers, 82-66, on Saturday afternoon at Devries Athletic Gymnasium. Despite the loss, the Owls displayed flashes of brilliance, particularly from standout performances by Moosie Lewis and Marielle McNeal.
The game began as a closely contested battle, with the Owls trailing by only five points after the first quarter, 20-15. Sewanee maintained a narrow lead at halftime, 34-29, but the Tigers broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Warren Wilson 29-24. The fourth quarter saw Sewanee extend their advantage to secure the victory.
Key Performances:
• Moosie Lewis led the Owls with 23 points, including four three-pointers, and added 9 rebounds and 2 steals in her 32 minutes on the court. Her aggressive playmaking kept the Owls within striking distance throughout the game.
• Marielle McNeal contributed 9 points and 8 rebounds, showing her versatility on both ends of the court.
• Ellie Martin added 8 points, while Candela Perez-Castellanos provided a spark off the bench with 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Sewanee's Olivia Falvey proved difficult to contain, scoring a game-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including four three-pointers. Hannah Cleveland also made her presence felt, contributing 13 points and pulling down 9 rebounds for the Tigers.
Despite the loss, the Owls showed resilience, especially in the paint, grabbing 41 rebounds and scoring 28 points inside. Turnovers, however, proved costly as Sewanee converted 21 Owl turnovers into 30 points.

"We saw some great individual efforts today, but as a team, we need to be more consistent on both ends of the floor," said Coach Robin Martin-Davis. "The third quarter hurt us, but I'm proud of how our players kept battling."
