Born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, Maximiliano Viera has a rich and diverse background in both playing and coaching soccer. He has recently been appointed as the head coach for the women's soccer team at Warren Wilson College.
Maximiliano's educational journey took him to the United States, where he studied Business Management at the University of Rio Grande in Ohio and Montreat College in North Carolina, with a minor in Spanish. He holds several certifications, including a USSF D License, SafeSport Certification, and CPR Certification. He also completed the prestigious Real Madrid Foundation Training Program.
His coaching career began as an Assistant Manager and Soccer Coach at FSA FC in Farmington, CT, where he directed technical programs and managed various youth teams. He then became the Assistant Director of Coaching at Western United Pioneers in Ludlow, MA, overseeing the development of both boys' and girls' teams and managing the club's administrative and social media tasks.
Maximiliano also served as the Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach at Ludlow High School, where he led the team to an undefeated season and a regular-season championship. His professional playing career includes stints with several clubs, including Western Mass Pioneers and Western Mass Professional Soccer Club in the United States, as well as clubs in Uruguay such as Liverpool CDS and Central Español.
During his collegiate career, Maximiliano achieved significant recognition. At Montreat College, he was named Freshman of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference, and in his sophomore year, he was the Offensive Player of the Year and Conference Champion. At the University of Rio Grande, he earned 1st Team All-Conference honors, was a Regular Season Champion, and held the #1 National Rank in his junior year. As a senior, he was a team captain, 1st Team All-Conference, All American, and Conference Champion.
Maximiliano brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for soccer to Warren Wilson College. His coaching philosophy emphasizes player development, teamwork, and resilience. He is dedicated to fostering a positive and competitive environment and looks forward to leading the women's soccer program to new heights both on and off the field.
