Becky Stanford is the first Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Warren Wilson College. Coach Stanford completed her 4th season at the helm of the program in Spring 2024 finishing with a 5-8 record. This season 5 players were named Athlete of the Week, 1 was named the Conference Defensive Player of the Week and IWLCA NCAA DIII Defensive Player of the Week, and 1 was selected for the All Conference 1st team.
In Spring 2023, the Owls finished 5-7, recording the best season yet. Three owls were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll and the team was recognized as an Academic Honor Squad with a cumulative GPA of 3.44. One player was named as Conference Offensive Player of the Week and IWLCA NCAA DIII Offensive Player of the Week, a first for the program. Two players were selected for the Coast-to-Coast Conference All Tournament Team.
Before coming to Warren Wilson, Coach Stanford was a Head Coach for C3 Lacrosse in Minnesota and assisted in numerous camps and clinics with C3 and Minnesota Elite. Prior to coaching in Minnesota, Coach Stanford was the lead girls coach and President for Onslow Tribe Lacrosse in Jacksonville, NC.
In addition to her coaching tenure, she was the President for the University of Minnesota Women’s Lacrosse team and played midfield and defense. Coach Stanford is also a Level One certified official, US Lacrosse Level 1 & 2 certified women’s coach, and NASM Certified Personal Trainer.
Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, Coach Stanford graduated from Tully High School. Stanford was a four year letter winner in cross country and lacrosse and earned All-league honors in both sports during her 4 years as a varsity student-athlete. Stanford continued her running career at the College at Brockport and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management. After working full time as a Recreation Coordinator at the Jacksonville NC Recreation and Parks Department, Stanford returned to school to complete her Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Minnesota and play competitive lacrosse. She graduated with her degree in May 2020.
Coach Stanford currently resides in Gerton, NC with her husband, Collin, and son, William.
