GREENVILLE, S.C. — Warren Wilson College dropped a three-set decision to Bob Jones University on Tuesday afternoon at Davis Field House, falling 25-16, 25-13 and 25-19.
The Owls fell to 2-7 on the season, while Bob Jones improved to 5-9.
Akeela Cunningham led Warren Wilson offensively with eight kills on 23 attempts while adding five digs. Pandora Keele finished with six kills and nine digs, while Kennadie Holmes contributed two kills. Josie McCoy matched Keele for the team lead with nine digs.
Aria Parish directed the Warren Wilson offense with 13 assists and added three service aces and five digs. Kylee Egidi recorded two assists, five digs and an ace. As a team, the Owls finished with 17 kills, 16 assists, four aces and 34 digs.
Warren Wilson hit .160 in the opening set behind seven kills but was unable to slow a Bob Jones attack that hit .333 with 14 kills. The Owls struggled offensively in the second set, recording one kill and hitting -.200 as Bob Jones took a 2-0 advantage.
The Owls produced their strongest offensive output in the third set with nine kills. The set was also the most competitive of the match, featuring 10 ties and five lead changes before Bob Jones pulled away for the 25-19 victory to complete the sweep.
