TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. — Warren Wilson College battled through a tightly contested second set but fell to Toccoa Falls University in three sets, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-11, on Wednesday evening.
Akeela Cunningham led Warren Wilson with 15 kills while adding 14 digs for a double-double. Josie McCoy contributed nine kills and nine digs. Setter Aria Parish finished with 25 assists, 13 digs, two service aces and two total blocks. Pandora Keele added four kills, seven digs, one ace and two block assists. Kennadie Holmes collected four digs, while Shannon Manuel added seven.
Warren Wilson delivered its strongest offensive performance in the opening set, recording 10 kills and hitting .217. Toccoa Falls responded with 12 kills at a .267 clip to take the set, 25-19.
WWU raised their production in the second set behind 16 kills, their highest total of the match. The Owls stayed within striking distance throughout the frame before Toccoa Falls secured the final two points for a 25-23 victory.
Toccoa Falls carried the momentum into the third set, hitting .290 while holding Warren Wilson to four kills. The host Screaming Eagles closed the match with a 25-11 win.
