SWANNANOA, NC - The Warren Wilson College women's lacrosse team secured a hard-fought 12-11 victory over Pfeiffer University on Tuesday evening at 104 Northwest Lane.
The Owls started strong, taking an early lead in the first quarter and maintaining their advantage throughout the game. Senior Sydney Weber delivered a standout performance, scoring seven goals, including three on free-position shots. Callie Aerni added three goals and two assists, while Sophia Spangler contributed two goals and an assist.
The game remained competitive, with Warren Wilson holding a narrow 8-6 lead at halftime. Pfeiffer kept the pressure on in the second half, but key defensive stops and timely goals allowed the Owls to stay in front. Goalie Apollo Grieves played a crucial role in the victory, recording 10 saves.
Statistically, the Owls held advantages in draw controls (15-12) and ground balls (24-23), while both teams were efficient in their clearing attempts, each finishing 12-for-15.
With this win, Warren Wilson looks to carry momentum into its next matchup, against Huntingdon College on Saturday, February 22.
