HARTSVILLE, SC - The Warren Wilson women's lacrosse team opened their season on the road Thursday, facing off against Coker University. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Owls fell 23-8, but the game featured several standout performances.
Sydney Weber led the offense with four goals, one assist, and 11 draw controls, making a strong impact throughout the game. Eden Gfeller and Sophia Spangler each scored their first career goals, while Callie Aerni added her first goal of the season.
Spangler's consistent effort and positive contributions earned her the game ball, highlighting her all-around performance on both ends of the field.
On defense, goalie Apollo Grieves recorded six saves against a high-powered Coker attack, while the Owls won 18 draw controls and forced several turnovers to stay competitive.
Warren Wilson looks to bounce back quickly as they return to action on Saturday, February 15, at 2 p.m. for the quadruple header.
