Ferrum, VA - Warren Wilson Women's Volleyball team competed in two games on Saturday, August 31st against the Panthers of Ferrum College and the Bruins of Carolina University all meeting up at Ferrum. The Owls lost both games starting out with 1-3 sets versus Ferrum, and then an 0-3 finish against Carolina University.
"I felt we did a solid job today by playing two games and not backing down. With these being the first games of the season, we made progress with our decision-making, and showed that we are ready for anything," said Head Coach, Kristy Kamer.
Against Carolina, the team saw signs of fatigue setting in, but the Owls never gave up. With their backs against the wall in the 3rd set, the team made a valiant effort to rally, but the Bruins lead proved to be too much to overcome.
"We definitely showed we can play under pressure, and now it's important that we focus on keeping consistent," said Kamer.
Kj Helinsky led the team with 36 points totaled for both games, and Vera Pandolfo tallied 44 assists total for both contests. The Owls will take the lessons learned on the road for a series of 5 away games over the next week.
