Box Score TOCCOA FALLS, GA - The Owls took a break from classes for a winding trip through the mountains to Toccoa Falls for a Tuesday match up against the Screaming Eagles of Toccoa Falls College. This evening match marked a return to their regularly scheduled games.
The Owls started off on the back foot, conceding two quick goals to Toccoa Falls. However, they managed to regroup and organize themselves. Although the Owls had several opportunities to advance the ball and create scoring chances, they struggled with transitions and clearances. This not only led to missed opportunities for themselves but also allowed Toccoa Falls to capitalize on counterattacks. As a result, the Owls continued to trail the Screaming Eagles into the final minutes of the first half.
In the second half, the Owls aimed to find their rhythm in transition to complement their hard-earned defensive stops, which had effectively limited the Eagles' scoring chances. They found another opportunity to score, but a controversial ruling disallowed the goal. The Owls created a few more chances, especially in the second half, but were ultimately unable to convert, finishing with a score of 4-0.
Despite the loss, the Owls held their heads high. They managed several one-on-one stops, a significant improvement compared to their previous match up. They also maintained pressure on offense, generating multiple scoring opportunities.
The Owls look forward to their next match up this Saturday against fellow work college Berea College. The game will take place on September 21st at the Hank Steinbrecher Sports Complex!
