GREENSBORO, NC - The Owls traveled to Guilford College on Saturday, March 16 for their first away game this season. They fell 19-2.
The Quakers opened the first quarter with a goal from Maggie Hartnett, assisted by Emma Garland. The Owls defense held them for over 2 minutes before another goal. The Owls responded with a goal from Sydney Weber. Despite winning a majority of draw controls, the Owls offense wasn't able to capitalize and the Quakers entered the second quarter with a 6-1 lead.
The Owls opened the second quarter with a free position goal from Weber, but the Quakers held onto the lead the rest of the game. Despite several solid defense stands against the Quakers, the Owls were not able to score in the second half.
Sydney Weber led the Owls with 2 goals and 12 draw controls. Goalie Hayden Drescher ended the day with 6 ground balls and 8 saves. Solid defensive plays were made by Madisyn Jutton (1 GB), Weronika Swojak (2 GB, 2 CT), Carolina Smith (2 GB), and KJ Helinsky (2 GB, 1CT).
The Owls (2-4) head on the road for their next game at Montreat, NC on Wednesday, March 20th, at 6PM.
