ST. LOUIS, MO - On Saturday, the Owls traveled to Maryville to play a makeup game against the Scots. The Owls and Scots were originally scheduled to play Jan. 17, but snow in Maryville caused the game to be rescheduled.
A matchup a month in the making saw the Scots jump out to an early lead. The four-time reigning Conference Champions controlled the game from the start, but this game will be remembered for the finish.
As the Owls secured a rebound to finish a defensive stop, a Scots player crashed into an electrical breaker box, instantly knocking the lights out above the court. While the rest of the building retained power, darkness fell over the court and brought the game to a halt.
After a delay, the lighting issue was deemed unfixable and the game was ended at it's current score. So in the darkness, the Owls finish the regular season with a loss in their final tune up before next week's Coast 2 Coast Conference Tournament.
The Owls will be back in action with the season on the line Thursday night (February 22) at Mary Washington University against Salisbury University.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Dylan Wheatley shot 2 for 3 from the three-point line and scored 6 points.
Antonio Banuelos also scored 6 points in the last regular season game of the season.
