LYNCHBURG, VA - On Tuesday night the Owls traveled to play against the University of Lynchburg from the vaunted Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). The Lynchburg Hornets showed their battle-tested pedigree as they controlled the game against the Owls.
The Hornets were able to jump out to an early first half lead. Hot three-point shooting from
Braxton Crocker, including a spectacular and-one on a three kept the Owls within striking distance. Unfortunately for the Owls, Lynchburg was able to match Crocker's threes and then some. The Hornets scorched the nets for 70% from 3PT in the first half including a heavily contested 25 footer to beat the halftime horn.
Despite the large deficit, the Owls continued to fight in the second half as
Tashaun Simpson came in to spark the second unit. Simpson went 3 for 3 from deep on his way to an ultra efficient 10 points in 11 minutes.
Of note for the Owls, freshman
Jakorri Arnold made the first start of his collegiate career. Arnold scored eight points while helping to pilot the Owls offense.
No rest for the Owls as they continue their every-other-day run with a rematch against rival Brevard at home on Thursday. The Owls have been a markedly better team at home in DeVries Gymnasium and look to avenge this past weekend's loss to the Tornadoes.
