LaGrange Slips Pasts Owls in Season Opener

Box Score

SWANNANOA, N.C. – The Warren Wilson College Men's Soccer opened their season, falling to LaGrange College 6-0.

LaGrange got four goals in the first half, including a Jaydon Parrish hat trick, and two in the second to claim victory. LaGrange, which opened the season with a 3-2 victory over Pensacola Christian, improve to 2-0 while the Owls fall to 0-1 on the young season.

"LaGrange was clinical in front of goal tonight.   We showed some good moments tonight but just weren't sharp enough in front of goal whereas LaGrange was," said WWC  Head Coach Mathes Mennell, "This was our first game since the fall of 2019 and we made some plays that reflected this lack of match sharpness.  That being said, the boys had some really nice moments and we will learn from this experience. Thank you to all the Owls fans that came out to support us tonight. It was great to play at home and the chance to play in front of our fans means a lot."

The Panthers then doubled the lead 77 seconds later as Parrish scored his second of the night.  The Panthers then struck again in the 21st minute as Parrish completed his hat trick.

The two sides traded shots right out of the break as the second half did not produce the same type of fireworks.  LaGrange added two goals in quick succession in the 68th and 69th minutes to cement the 6-0 victory.
