Owls Drop Close One against Wasps

Box Score

EMORY, VA. – The Warren Wilson College Men's Soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to Emory & Henry College 1-0 on a rainy Thursday night at Fred Selfe Stadium.

The Wasps scored the game's only goal in the 66th minute as Ryan Boyette was able to find the net on a header after a Nino Egli cross.

"We turned in our best 90 minute performance of the season tonight.   We played with attacking intent and created some really nice chances," said WWC  Head Coach Mathes Mennell, "their keeper came up with three really good saves in the second half.  Obviously, we are disappointed that we did not get a result but I could not be prouder of our effort and the way we played."

The Game at a Glance

How it Happened

The first half was a very even affair as both teams registered 7 shots.  The Owls best chance in the first half came as Will Feehan flashed a header just wide from a Nick Budd corner.

The Owls finished the first half with a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The second half started brightly as the two sides traded chances right out of the break.  The game evened out until Boyette provided the lone goal of the match in the 66th minute.  The Owls then went on the attack as they pressed to find the equalizer.  The Owls forced Spencer Scott to make three fantastic saves with the best being a double save from Ahmed Keller's effort from the left side of the goal after he was played in with only Scott to beat.
