Box Score Winston-Salem, NC -- The Warren Wilson College women's soccer team lost in overtime Saturday evening against Piedmont International University.
The first half of play was back-and-forth with both teams having opportunities on goal. The Owls had a lapse in concentration and just before halftime in the 42nd minute Piedmont International lobbed the ball into the corner of the net, putting the Bruins on the board.
In the second half, the Owls leveled the game in 59th minute. Sophomore Sierra Bell beat her defender on the sideline and crossed a great ball across the box where junior Allyson Nestler tapped it home. Nearly three minutes later, the Bruins responded, making the score 2-1. With fifteen minutes left in regulation, the Owls snuck another goal past the Bruin's keeper, as Bell would hit a great outside shot. Regulation ended with a score of 2-2.
Going into overtime, the game was even. It was not until the second overtime that the Bruins picked up their winning goal. The Bruins broke ahead of the Owls defense and finished the game winner, ending overtime play 3-2.
The Bruins led the Owls offensively with 11 shots on goal versus 8 shots. In goal, freshmen Susie Lusardi tallied 8 saves. The Owls had 6 corner kicks versus 2 for the Bruins.
