Swannanoa, N.C. - The #6 Owls hosted Crown College Thursday night in their second of three games in three days. Coming off of an emotional loss to #17 Johnson and Wales the Owls showed a bit of sluggish play from the start, but was able to shake that off and win big against the Crusaders, 124-84.
"Crown played really hard and they had moments where they flat out out-played us. Im glad we were able to show up late in the first half and ride that wave to a victory," stated head coach Anthony Barringer.
The Owls were led in scoring by sophomore guard Jordan Gant with 31 points on 12-17 shooting from the field and 7-3 pointers. Following him was senior guard Merault Almonor, who finished with 24 points and 9 rebounds. 2 of those points came from a monstrous dunk early in the second half. Senior guard Michael Pomeroy finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Freshmen Antron Smith and Kahlon Whitley finished with 15 points and 5 rebounds and 19 points and 7 assists, respectively. Senior guard Marques Sullivan finished the game with 12 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds.
