Winston Salem, N.C. - The Warren Wilson Owls traveled to Winston Salem, North Carolina to take on the Piedmont International University Bruins. The Owls would have to make the trip without head coach Anthony Barringer, who was forced to stay home for personal reasons.
The Owls came out the gate clicking on all cylinders, but the Bruins refused to be denied. In a game that went back and forth until the final buzzer sounded, The Owls were able to overcome a nine point halftime deficit to secure an 83-80 victory.
Ty Johnson, who, along with assistant coach Matt Kantor, filled in for coach Barringer, stated, "the way the guys responded at the half and came out with a sense of urgency was the difference. It was truly a team win. Everyone contributed in some way."
The Owls are currently 6-14 on the season. This win snaps a 9 game losing skid for them.
The Owls are back in action Saturday as they host USCAA Division 1 #9 Berea College. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 P.M.
