Powell, TN -- The Warren Wilson Owls traveled to Crown College and came home victorious. The Owls started off slow and managed to go into the half up by three. Nine straight points by Justin Gonyea put the Owls up nine before the Crusaders fought back to cut into their lead.
The Crusaders started the second half with upset on their minds. In the first 10 minutes they took the lead and went up 10 before the Owls tightened up the screws defensively and turned a 10 point deficit to an 18 point lead.
"Crown is a tough place to play and we started off really slow. A four minute spark got us the lead and we were able to hold on until the final horn. It's tough to play on the road, and even tougher to win on the road. We managed to get stops at the perfect time and convert them into points," stated interim head coach Anthony Barringer.
The Owls were lead in scoring by junior guard Garth Bailey, who finished with 29. Justin Gonyea finished with 18.
This win brings the Owls record to 4-1 on the season.
The Owls are back on the road Friday and Saturday when they play Penn State Fayette and Christendom at Johnson and Wales for the USCAA Classic. Tip-off on Friday, November 13 is at 4:30 PM and Saturday, November 14 at 2:30 PM.
