Owls Men's Soccer Rally Falls Short

Box Score $website.include("options")

The Panters of LaGrange hold off a late rally by Warren Wilson, defeating the Owls 3-1.

LaGrange dominated the first half and was able to

capitalize on a late first half goal when Mackens Marcelin found Freshman Daniel Provence on a header in the box. It was Provence's first collegiate goal.

In the second half Provence proved he wasn't done, beating Owls keeper Jose Pablo right at the start of the second half to make it 2-0 in favor of the Panthers.

The Owls briefly lost defender Enrique Timas, however Timas was able to shake off an injury and return to the pitch. Moved to an attacking position, Timas and the Owls started to make a rally late in the second half.

In the 74th minute Timas found the back of the net on a beautiful ball from Marley Howard to cut the deficit to 1-2. The return of Timas to the lineup and the goal reenergized Warren Wilson who began winning possession and attacking more aggressively.

The Owls had a few more chances and in the 88th minute pushed everyone into the attack. Unfortunately for the Owls faithful that left LaGrange's David Flores open on a counter attack and he was able to get a goal in the 90th minute with 18 second left to put the game away for good.

LaGrange outshot Warren Wilson 16-13 and the corner kick advantage was 14-1 in favor of the Panthers.

Warren Wilson falls to 0-3-0 on the season. The Owls are next in action on Tuesday at Crown College at 4 PM.
