Asheville, NC - The Fighting Owls made it three in a row at home after defeating Columbia International University this past Saturday, 79-61. This moves the Owls overall record to 12-10 on the year.
The Owls would execute early, playing at their pace and shooting the ball well, but as time moved on in the first half CIU started to heat up. CIU would hit a number of shots to climb back into the game ending with a half time score of 39-34 still in favor of Wilson.
The Owls came out with great energy in the second half which was full of great defensive plays and big shots.
Timmy Johnson and Justin Gonyea both hit four three pointers in the game, as team basketball was displayed with the ball distributed from one side to the other allowing for open shots.
Timmy Johnson finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist and Justin Gonyea ended the game with 16 points, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 rebounds.
Rashad Ali added 9 points and 4 rebounds. Timur Oktay had 8 points and 5 rebounds.
Thomas Hay led all rebounders with 7, also adding 2 assists and 2 points.
Ty Johnson led the team in scoring once again as he stepped up to hit some big shots, finishing with 18 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound.
Tyler Triplett added 10 points and 4 rebounds with some aggressive plays including a fast break dunk in the first half.
