Owls Cold in Loss at Greensboro

The Owls shoot just 29% in a 78-54 loss to the NCAA DIII Pride.

In the first half the Owls started strong, with a 17-9 lead seven minutes into the game. The Pride would answer with a 9-0 run and take an 18-17 lead with under 10 minutes to go in the half. Greensboro held the Owls to just 3 points over the final 13 minutes in the first half to take a 32-20 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Pride defense continued to cause trouble for the Owls, who hit on just 15-52 from the field for the game. The Owls were also forced into 21 turnovers that led to 24 points for the Pride.

Ty Johnson scored 17 points on 5-14 shooting to lead the Owls in the loss. Johnson was the only player to finish in double figures in scoring for Wilson. For Greensboro, Parris Scales led three players in double figures with 16 points on 7-12 shooting.

The Owls fall to 3-3 on the season. The Pride are now 1-0. These two teams will rematch in a little over a week at Warren Wilson.

Warren Wilson continues its busy week on Tuesday, when they return home to battle Crown College at 7:00 pm.
