Women and Men's Soccer both take care of Berea for a perfect homecoming weekend effort.
Game 1 Recap:
In the first game the Owls ladies dominated possession en route to a 4-0 result over the Mountaineers.
Bianca Canizio had a hand in all four goals, finishing the afternoon with two goals and two assists.
Warren Wilson started the scoring early, in the second minute, when Canizio found Whitney Brotherton, who scored her second of the season.
Canizio made it 2-0 in the 5th minute on a deflection from Sydney Grange, after Berea keeper Annie Hammell had trouble with the ball.
Canizio added her second goal in the 22nd on a beautiful shot from the left side that just slid under the crossbar, and the Owls took a 3-0 lead into the half.
In the second half Kendra Orians would score her third goal of the year in the 48th to make it 4-0 and the Owls would cruise the rest of the way for the most complete performance of the 2014 season so far.
Warren Wilson has matched its win total from last year and are now 5-5 heading into a road game at Columbia Tuesday at 6 pm.
Game 2 Recap:
The Owls men battled the Mountaineers in a very physical extra-time match, with tough defense played on both sides of the ball.
The Owls scored first in the match when Chris Hawley headed a ball into the back of the net. Marley Howard and Jackson Grimm both picked up assists. Grimm had the first heading effort which was picked up by Hawley.
The Owls would hang onto the 1-0 lead until the 67th minute when Jesse Massucco scored his seventh goal of the year for Berea to level the match at 1-1.
Both defenses picked up and the teams headed into extra time. Then in the second half the Owls got a ball into the box, Enrique Timas took a shot and missed and the ball was deflected to Marley Howard who scored to send the Owls to the victory.
The Owls played most of the game without Jackson Grimm, who left with an injury.
The Owls improve to 3-6 on the year. They will play their final home game Tuesday afternoon against Crown College at 4 pm.
