Spartanburg, SC - The Fighting Owls lose 0-4 to the Converse College Valkyries.
Warren Wilson's lady soccer team was on the road for the first time this season to face a Converse team that was pre-season ranked seventh in the NCAA DII Conference Carolinas. The match brings Warren Wilson to an overall record of 1-1 and Converse College to 1-0.
The first goal came at the 27:43 mark in a second chance unassisted effort by Georgia Jones. Darby Boyd would cross to hit Emily Taylor for the second goal in the 30th minute to give the Valkyries a 2-0 lead at half. Olivia Grose scored unassisted in the 86th minute followed by a quick goal in the 89th minute by Halley Wisner. That was the final goal for either team securing the 4-0 victory for Converse.
Converse College had an overwhelming 27 shots compared to the 3 shots by Warren Wilson. Grace Hamlin ended the game with a total of 14 saves.
Warren Wilson women's soccer will be back at home on Saturday, September 7th to take on Hollins University at 2:00PM.
