CENTRAL, SC - On March 1st, 2025, the Owls of Warren Wilson College sent their new track and field team to Southern Wesleyan University, marking the institution's first-ever competition in the sport. Competing against a strong field that included athletes from many DIII schools, the team proved it could hold its own at the collegiate level. This feat was accomplished by the athletes of Warren Wilson College, who are noted to have been competing against mostly DII athletes.
One of the standout performances came from Bella Sosa, an Owl who made history by setting a school record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:45.55. The Freshman from Dallas, Texas, placed 10th overall in the event, setting the bar high for future competitions and future athletes alike. Sosa's remarkable performance secured her the title of the top Division III runner in the race and confirmed her place in Warren Wilson College's athletic history.
