Owls Beat Cougars In First Home Men's Volleyball Match

SWANNANOA, NC - The Warren Wilson Owls hosted their inaugural first Home match against Averett University at the Devries Gymnasium where the Owls put on a show and came out with a 3-0 win versus the Cougars. 

The Owls jumped out quickly with a five point run and continued to take charge of the first set having a commanding advantage of 19-7. The Cougars fight back to get up to 15 before the Owls take the set 25-15. The 2nd set both teams fought point for point early in the set and then the Owls went on a big run with a kill and ace from outside hitter Will Jack. The Owls get ahead at 17-11 when Averett pushes back to come up close at 22-21. Warren Wilson finishes the set with a big kill from Nedas Nacickas and an Ace to win 25-22. 

Averett University responded back to push ahead and get the lead for the first time in the match with big kills from Jordan Tyler and Finn Oakley leading 5-10. The Owls stay composed and chip away at 10-13 and then go on a big 8 point run to take the lead back at 19-13. The Cougars fought back and forth with Ian Nicholson finishing the set with 2 kills to win 25-21 for the program's first home win. Leading scorers combined for a total 26 kills, Ian Nicholson with 11 kills hitting 0.154, Will Jack with 9 kills hitting 0.150, and Tobin Vignes in his first match got 6 kills hitting 0.400. RJ Daly led the offense with 25 assists and Ricky Castillo led the defense with 11 digs.
