Swannanoa, N.C. - Yesterday marked a huge day for Warren Wilson Athletics. Both the men's and women's tennis teams competed in the first dual home match in WWC history. The Owl's opponents were the Johnson University Royals. "I feel so very proud of these players and excited for the future of tennis here at Warren Wilson," said Coach Jim Greene.
Although, the Owl racketeers came up short on the tally board, there were two impressive matches fought by both the men and women. For the ladies team, Zosha Silverstien-Bilden, won her match in singles
6-0,6-3 making her the first match winner on a WWC women's tennis team in school history.
On the men's side, Tristan Perryman and Kezar Berger also won their doubles match in a pro set, 8-1. Berger also won his singles match by besting his opponent 6-4,6-4 becoming the first men's player to do so this season. "I was out there just doing my best coach," stated Berger and added, "It feels real good, thanks," as his teammates met him coming off the court.
"These are milestones and clear indicators of the potential these players have and the beginnings of a great season ahead," said Greene.
The Owls are back in action Friday, March 15th, when they travel to Covenant College. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 P.M.
