Warren Wilson Adds Tennis, Names Greene as Head Coach

Swannanoa, N.C. -- Warren Wilson College has named Jim Greene as their new Head Tennis Coach. Greene will spearhead the resurgence of both men's and women's teams, originally skippered by WWC Hall of Fame member Ron Wilson from 1973-1981. Greene will recruit and develop the initial squads for tournament play in the fall of 2018 and begin the new season in Spring 2019.

"I am tremendously honored and enthusiastically accept this opportunity to serve as coach and entrusted steward of the new WWC Tennis programs." said Greene.

Greene arrives at Warren Wilson College with over 25 years of experience in tennis. As a head coach for high school and college teams, Greene has infused success wherever the challenge has arisen. Providing a first-time-seen national ranking for SMC (Spartanburg Methodist College) (NJCAA DI) and steering Newberry College (NCAA DII) to second place and the Finals of the SAC Tournament in his first-year.

Among his accomplishments as a teaching professional, Greene has served as Director or Head Pro for racquet clubs in North and South Carolina. Most recently, he served as Director of Tennis for Red Fox Country Club in Tryon, NC. During the summers, Greene is the Director for Tennis at Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure, N.C.  He has competed, coached and captained many USTA teams to both state and regional championships.

Greene attended and played tennis for North Greenville College and the University of Hawaii and has been involved in sport and competition throughout his life.

After serving a tour in the U.S. Navy, and traveling throughout the world, Greene can attest, "there is no substitute for travel and the benefits it brings, but truly the best things in life are often found in your own backyard".  Greene hails from Upstate South Carolina and resides near Tryon, NC with wife Rhett and has three sons; Jay, Jon and Alex.
